Gerd Binnig is a German physicist, and a Nobel laureate. He was born in Frankfurt on July 20th, 1947 and he is currently at the age of 66.
Gerd Binning and Heinrich Rohrer invented the scanning tunneling microscope that gave the user a 3 dimentional images ( X, Y and Z) of the object down to the atomic level.
